A few months ago, I connected my laptop to my TV in order to watch a movie. Afterwards, I went in the other room to do some chores. When I came back in, the substrate screensaver had turned on, and my cat was watching it on the TV intently. He turned to look at me, then went back to watching the lines slowly draw themselves. After a minute, he pawed at one of the ends of the lines. I had to move him away from the TV so he wouldn't damage the screen. Poor guy, he just couldn't comprehend how the lines were moving on their own.
When I told this story to a younger gen z person, they asked what a screensaver was, and that made me feel old.
