I'm not a "the election was stolen" truther, but a lot of the "election integrity" relies on politically-involved older people across the country with lots free time being unwilling to bend the rules...

... ANd they're primarily Republicans, and have seen eight years of "the other side is cheating, why don't you?" So much of the United States Truths have been eroded over the years, so the "elections are safe and effective" truism could be one of them too.

Trump has repeatedly made anti-election statements, encouraged people to cheat, and has an uncanny ability to make people fall in line.

The most likely explanation is still Democrats lost, fair and square, after spending four years shitting the bed. But, why wasn't my vote counted?

What's the point in making my name and address and party affiliation public information, to choose between 20% Hitler and 5% Hitler? Why am I making all these sacrifices just for my vote not to be counted anyway?

I’m absolutely convinced it’s because someone knew there would be no consequences for burying it. Voter suppression is far more likely to get hand wringing than a serious response, so active grassroots voter suppression has become popular.

It’s turns out the old saying “if voting could bring change it would be illegal” was wrong. Instead, it’s “if voting could bring change we will rig the results.”

Yeah, this exactly. That's the feeling I'm getting. Maybe there's a reasonable explanation, but maybe the road to hell is lined with "benefit of the doubt".

Exactly. And the thing is, some fraction of the uncounted ballots probably are for completely unrelated reasons, and they rely on this for plausible deniability. But taken as a whole, I believe most of these cases are cases of deliberate lack of care, i.e., voter suppression.

The real question now is: so what? What are we going to do about it?

Edit: just to be clear, I don’t have an answer - this is just what I’ve been asking myself the last month
