i don't normally like MOBAs for two reasons:
- click-to-move warcraft style controls
- usually it seems like most of the ways you can lose are by not knowing something, instead of not doing something. for example, if you pick the wrong character type for the field position you're playing, or if you buy the wrong items, or level up the wrong abilities, you'll lose even if you play better than your opponents.
i've never played the phone version, but the nintendo version solves both of these problems. playing a MOBA with a controller feels great. i think it's the only time i've ever preferred a controller over a mouse and keyboard. aiming your abilities and moving your character with analog sticks feels very natural. and most of the usual ways MOBAs punish you for lack of game knowledge has been streamlined out. sane default item and ability builds are provided for every character. you can still look up different item builds online and change your build mid-game, but if you just pick a character you've never played before you can still do reasonably well just letting the game automatically buy items and level up your abilities for you, which is great because it means i don't have to memorize a whole bunch of information to be able to play competently-- which was my main gripe with both League of Legends and Heroes of the Storm.
but i don't know anyone else who plays it, and i don't even know that many other people who have switches irl. but if anybody wants to be nintendo friends and play sometime, i think that would be fun.
