if you see the CW and went “ah, i’m not sure”, at the risk of spoiling the article... it's a porn game, or rather it's a game about porn. specifically porn targeted at the heterosexual man (which is. almost all porn). i know 2012 isn’t that long ago anyway, but they didn’t trip over themselves on the discussion of trans, so don’t worry about that. (funnily enough it was this “trans” part that led to the big realization for the writer [not that kind (afaik?)].)

i find it interesting that this could just be a game about porn in 2024. like, the art form hasn’t moved. maybe onlyfans? but that’s mostly a change in set dressing rather than content no? i feel like they even still used the t-slur until recent-ish?

obviously the indie crowd is still thriving in places like itch.io and such. but i agree with thecatamites that the criticism itself, this kind of article about indie games is pretty much a relic, with contemporary writers worrying about playing marketers too (and not even like in an insidious, access journalism kinda way, but in a “just. just play the game (please support this small developer :/)” way.

anyway. interesting read imo
