The funny frogworld isekai has some incredibly well-written and complex characters, and explores toxic friendships in a lot of really interesting ways. It's really well-made, well-structured, and shows a LOT of restraint by slowly developing the characters in lower-stakes circumstances before dropping them into more serious plot-type scenarios where we can see all that development pay off.

I only gave it a chance cause I saw a really surprisingly brutal major spoiler for the season 2 finale and HAD to see what that was all about. Still had to FORCE myself through the first like, 9 episodes or so tho. In part cause a lot of the comedy didn't land for me that much, in part because I wasn't giving the show enough credit for what it was doing. A lot of season 1, especially the early episodes, felt like entirely episodic filler at the time, but was actually gradual development of the lead character and the town she got transported to through slice of life episodes. It uses the "lesson of the episode" format a lot, but what's nice is that the lessons actually stick, and the lead character grows a LOT without you even noticing.

And more than that-- through the lead character's initial flaws and warped sense of what friendship is supposed to be like, we're also learning a lot about her two friends who also got transported to the same frog world along with her, well before we ever actually meet them.

I could go on about this show, and probably will in some format or another, it's very well crafted and I definitely recommend it.

I really trust your opinion on The Good Cartoons and this means it is all the more frustrating that I have such a backlog off good stuff to watch!!!!

Pls feel strongly encouraged to tell me all of your thoughts via the communication medium of your choice

Tho if you're like I was then most of your thoughts for a lot of season 1 will be "egh, I dunno dog"

im getting some friends to watch it and it really is just silly (and kinda repetitive structure early on) frog show for so so long, but also that can be fun and nice too
