I got my first tablet - a hand me down from my mom - and I'd like to dedicate it to non-online things, such as reading fiction.

What I want:

  1. option to read white text on a grey background. This is ideal.
  2. I prefer reading pages vs scrolling
  3. Needs to able to read offline books. Needing cloud access 100% of the time is a turn off.
  4. No advertising - I can spare a bit of cash to get that, if the app is solid. Distraction free environment is what I'm after and advertising takes away from that.
  5. If the app could remove white margins from PDFs, that would be great. A common problem with reading scientific papers is that they're made for print while I'm reading them digitally. Thus viewing apps don't/can't/won't remove white margins, which can make the text too small to read. I've removed margins by hand with command line magic in the past, but I'd prefer if apps did this for me instead.

If you really like using something that doesn't fit these standards, feel free to recommend it anyways.
