Not calf but instead glutes. Sometimes I just develop a giant pain in my ass and can't walk right. I don't think I've ever gotten it while sleeping but definitely there's only a slight correlation depending on how much I've been moving so sometimes it crops up and I'm like, "this isn't fair I haven't been straining myself!"

It's a giant pain in my ass.

sometimes when I sleep with my legs curled up all night and then stretch suddenly when I wake up my calves seize up really painfully. The last few times it happened it was hard to walk for a few hours but went away throughout the day. Try to be more mindful about suddenly stretching when I wake up now.

Sounds more like a cramp than a pulled muscle but that still sucks

Cramps tend to be p transient, it could be a bona fide muscle strain if it hurts for hours.
