This is posthumously published essay by philosopher Charles W. Mills, who died just a little under a year ago and was most well known for his writings on race. When the news of his death broke out on Twitter, one remembrance mentioned about the linked, then unpublished essay on The Lord of the Rings, doing rounds as copies, generating excitement that it might be someday uncovered. Here it is published in The Southern Journal of Philosophy.

I've read half of it so far and find it interesting.
