(mild gore cw) chopped off my fingertip at work today

i was being a silly goose and forgot my cut glove >.< don't forget the cut glove guys

there were no freaking bandaids in the first aid kit at work so i had to run to my car and use my personal first aid kit

i took the fingertip home to bury it in my compost

heres hoping it heals over eventually, ive never straight up lost quite so much meat before lol

i did not! i told no one bc they would only fuss at me for failing to use the cut glove and i don't need that kind of negativity in my life. i need the hours and couldn't afford to miss the day.

the bleeding stops as long as i keep it taped up, so im just hoping its not so dire that the skin can't seal back up eventually?? like i can't see bone so its probably fine...

if you're not willing to go to the doctor, please please make sure you're using antibiotic ointment to keep the injury site as free of bacteria as possible. or at least keeping the injury clean. infection is a real concern here and the end result of that isn't pretty

dont worry i got some fresh neosporin and bandaids! im trying to keep it dry at work. if it doesnt seem to be healing properly ill go to a clinic i suppose :<

I know everyone is heaping unsolicited advice on you, but I hope you at least have some IRLs who can offer advice (their tips might have already suffered the same fate).

Did you at least keep some of your nail bed? Apparently it's possible to grow most of your fingertip back. Will keep my fingers crossed on your behalf

thank u for asking! it seems ok so far, everything is congealed and stable with regular bandaid treatment. luckily most of the nail bed is fine, i only ended up losing maybe half a cm, its just at a weird angle and looks gross >:p

it would be cool if it all grew back! ill be satisfyed with no exposed meat in the long term lol
