I realized I never updated y'all and realized maybe I should put that big ol' "Non transitioner" label on me.
I never believed in the "null hypothesis" rhetoric. I don't think "existence is resistance" means transition is the only way to resist. And I use and will continue to use the words "male privilege" or "cis privilege" as roughly accurate descriptors for the safety I have, and would be choosing go give up if I transition.
Not much to say, other than I think we're full steam ahead for trans genocide. Not just in the holistic sense of the destruction of culture and restriction of expression and gathering, or in people like me desisting or detransitioning, but maybe also in the "round em up into camps and gas em" sense.
I hope I'm wrong, I hope I'm dooming, etc.
We're nearly cliquey, in terms of graph theory. Most trans people mostly know other trans people, and our cis edges are usually in the nuclear family, or in employment. The latter is a context designed for replacing people. The result is that every trans person could be disappeared tomorrow, and most of the people who would care are also others who are disappeared.
I'm really bummed but it just seems really stupid to decide to put myself in the marginalized class being scapegoated by a fascist regime. We see what happens to the scapegoats. Even if we don't see the worst-case realization of a trans genocide, I don't even want to live as a trans person in the best-case realization of a trans genocide.
And we're all still on fucking Instagram. That's the nail in the coffin, and my final existential fear. We're never giving this up.
The "Google is evil" people in 2004 were derided because, lol, Google is a cool indie startup, they're not Microsoft. The "Facebook will bring about fascism" people were derided in 2006 because, lol, fascism? You're so overly dramatic, everyone hates the nazis and will forever! But the comparisons between Facebook to the Hitler Youth were probably more apt than the annoying Stallmanites could have predicted.
I was aware of this rhetoric when I was a child with single-digits years of age. It's around everyone. Everyone knew about this and still chose it. We were told what would come while we built the tracks and laid the bricks. We didn't leave Facebook when its various harms cropped up since 2010, or when we learned about PRISM in 2011, or when it gave us Trump in 2016, or when it bought up Instagram and Whatsapp, or when it gave us an undeniable genocide in 2019, or covid misinformation since 2020, or when it shifted far-nazi right in 2024.
It makes me want to scream when I see so much discourse about stupid shit, but it's totally acceptable to use Instagram Reels. I thought we don't like genocide or nazis.
So, it's demoralizing and I don't feel like I can find safety in my community. In retrospect, the first sign should have been in 2016 when we didn't all decide to get off Facebook products forever. Instagram, X, TikTok. I can't feel safe as a slug when all the other slugs are voting for salt. What are we doing?
I love Jstpst, because everyone here probably cares about this stuff at a baseline level. But vanishingly few of my IRLs share these values.
Us annoying "Facebook is evil" people lost an existential war, and those losses are being realized.
I'll be more useful being an annoying Stallmanite "cis" "ally" I guess. But fascism is a cancer and we didn't kill it when we had a chance.
Man 🐴 :(
TLDR: If you haven't played Outer Wilds in five years, you can probably play it again and have a lot of fun.

I think you're making some wrong assessments of the situation, not in thinking that it's dangerous out there, but thinking that detransitioning is getting you out of it. These fuckers want to come for basically everyone. The only reason they haven't yet is because ICE is unpopular and America is big, getting caught requires legal trouble or being in the wrong place at the wrong time. They do go off visual indicators, so maybe being "viably trans" is an issue. Maybe social media is relevant if they get into your phone but so would every single thing you do on it.
If you can leave the country, than that's probably smart. And maybe being stealthy is good in specific situations. But like, everyone is in danger. It is the bad time. And from what I've seen I think people are starting to actually understand that we're in this together.
