We have an FBI with unqualified people at the helm operating with unqualified people who, once the Trump admin came in, decided to stop tracking domestic terrorists, far-right extremists, and white supremacists.
The US and Canada have had years of far-right domestic terrorists with an accelerationist agenda who have been being thwarted by the FBI and whatnot.
Looking at the reaction of conservatives, broadly assuming the shooter was a "leftist" and openly talking about how they're being 'radicalized' and supporting violence. This looks like this can be notched as a win for accelerationists.
I think the likeliest scenario is that the shooter was one of these accelerationists. But we don't know the shooters motivation.
We have the assumption that the three letter agencies will always catch these kinds of guys before the shootings, or after. But it's possible the shooter is someone who would have been on the FBI's radar but will simply not be caught.

It reminds me a lot of October seventh in that my initial reaction was "oh fuck, this is going to be seized upon for maximum effect isn't it."
Like obviously, the right was calling for civil war over an ad for pants and for a chain restaurant changing their logo. They're always calling for civil wars and mass purges. That's bad enough. That's normal and they don't need an excuse, I get that.
But with this they're going to seize on it and we're going to see another wave of firings of anyone deemed not sufficiently deferential, and a massive crackdown on dissent.
Again, before anyone jumps in and says "they're doing that anyway" you can save it. I know. Just like Israel was already committing genocide on Palestinians, and October seventh marked a massive acceleration, this is another Reichstag fire moment where it marks a huge ramp up. If it wasn't this it'd have been something else. But again, it's the fact that we can already start to see where this is going and it's not good.
