The concerted effort by everyone with a platform to both conflate the actions of the military and government of Israel with the Jewish people as a whole while also suppressing Jewish and left wing anti genocide speech, such that the only criticism you can find in many cases are right wing antisemites, is perhaps one of the most disgusting and dangerous things I have seen in years.
And centering how it negatively affects Jewish safety is itself a great sin. Because the genocide is against Palestinians. The whole discourse around this is driving me insane.
I was not raised Jewish, and my dad was secular, but he would be sick to his stomach every day if he were still with us. There's a genocide, and we're being told if we object, it's only because we hate the Jews. The existence of Palestinians in Gaza, is a threat to Jewish people in the whole world?
That is roughly what the Nazis said. We didn't accept it then. We fought a war to stop it. And we're gonna need to do it again, I fear.

I just want to say that I really appreciate the ways you articulate things in Jstpst. I agree with you completely.
Every Jewish person I know is anti-Zionist, and while it's not the most pertinent issue amid the genocide, there's a very real concern about actual antisemitism in the future! "Anti-Zionism is anti-semitism" just legitimizes "antisemitism" while also muddying the term! I think a lot of the campaign to deny the genocide is with the understanding that all the rhetoric will backfire pretty supremely.
We're seeing Israel blatantly use Jewish people as a scapegoat, and it's working! It's so transparent. It makes me want to eat drywall.
