It's wild that I never challenged the notion that the noble Greeks sacking the glutton city Troy using a clever horse trick was a Good Thing and Athena being upset with Odysseus was just Athena being unfair.
For as much as the story jumped around in the movie, I really appreciated that Nolan expected that I would start with this notion of the noble greek and gave me a real "Oh shit" moment as I realized how embarrassingly wrong that was. The movie then pieced the whole rest of the narrative together such that the invading and pillaging Greeks travelling with Odysseus of course deserved their terrible fate. The trojan horse got especially twisted from clever to horrendous, as that the one pivotal bad idea that made Odysseus and the world lose its way
Overall I feel like I understand the Odyssey much better than I previously did, and likewise I feel like I understand the tragedy of Odysseus more clearly too
