Like I don't mean the genres, I mean music from other parts of the world sounds vastly different from western music. Some musical traditions use different notes together for different things etc, so I wonder if the musical language so to speak, would have changed enough that people in medieval Italy wouldn't get down to what we like and expect in music today. And likewise, if we could faithfully recreate what the average person was listening to or playing, would it sound any good to us?
