the logitech k830 is.... or was... a keyboard + trackpad. i use one for when i'm on my couch at my tv but the charger port is starting to fail. in fact, i'm using it right now. i think when it runs out of battery though this time around, that'll be it.
i decided to look up a replacement only to learn that it was discontinued years ago. now logitech's only option is the k400, a far inferior kb + trackpad combo that feels way worse to use. gummier keys, no backlight, and a trackpad with less smooth finger tracking. because the k830 is so loved, used models are on ebay and such for > $100. ridiculous.
i'm going to try to open this thing up and see if i can fix the charger port myself with a little soldering, but my confidence level isn't very high.
anyway, i'll miss this keyboard. it's been really great and has served me spectacularly over the years. i hope that logitech considers reintroducing it to their lineup, or perhaps developing a successor with a better charge port.
instead though, i imagine they'll continue to recommend the vastly inferior k400 as a replacement and throw all their money away with ai investments that won't see any return like every other company this decade

as someone whose favourite brand of frozen pizza was discontinued a few years ago, i feel your pain. hope you're able to fix that charge port.
