I have been running a small collaborative blogging project and I don't have a lot of rules. The three rules are list the order you are in, for example if you are blog entry 13 you are supposed to say Blog 13: Blog Name, and you are supposed to link to the person before you and after you.
None of my friends seem capable of actually doing that and instead just link to a mastodon thread where I keep track of the project, or don't link to anything, or don't bother putting the number in the title. the rules section is 1 paragraph please just read it.
This isn't a big deal but just hate having to keep telling everyone to read, we are god damned writers why is reading so hard for us?

They're called "writers" not "readers"

That does sound very annoying. That sounds like a project which would be enjoyable and cool otherwise

could you like, make a template for them to copy and paste from to ensure that they follow the right formatting?

well I could, but that would require them reading it in the first place so it's sort of a no go.
