The more pull requests I get from my colleagues who use AI, the more I hate it. Stop wasting my time, this code is trash and you clearly didn't do a good job checking it.

But our company is really pushing for everyone to use AI more for everything, so it's only going to get worse.

Seriously it's so bad, the code these things pump out mostly seems to work but it has such basic errors and is so sloppy, I'd be embarrassed to push it for review. It makes me honestly think they have no idea what they're doing, but some of these are people who've been in the field for years and they do seem to know at least something.

Did AI dependence rot their brains? Are they just getting sloppy? Or did they always just suck but floated by anyway?

He literally replied to some of my comments pointing out mistakes with "yeah sorry some of this is copilot fluff."

A reviewer should not be the first person to read the code!

Do we work at the same company? Gun against my head, I've been espousing the virtues of AI, while secretly looking at the mountain of tech debt we're accruing as job security once the rug is pulled.

Realizing I am better than all of my colleagues at coding and recognizing mistakes makes me feel even more reassured.

When these tools do work decently, it's heavily citing markdown and comments I've written! Against the culture of my team (which uses Confluence, and sees documentation as something to generate).

I bet these will still get "better" but as I use these, I can't believe THIS is what all the people on HackerNews are jerking over.
